Why it exists

Exporting assets, preparing a PSD and checking contrast are separate handoff steps.

PetalKit brings six tools into one panel. The Community build processes files locally without network requests or analytics.

Line drawing: four small windows converge into one window on a designer's monitor.

How it works.

Isometric line drawing: a designer's desk with the plugin panel on screen, ringed by six small work stations — export, PSD, PDF, .ai, GIF and audit.

01 Export assets

Select the frames, choose formats and naming rules, set a target file size, then export the batch.

02 Figma ↔ PSD

Select a frame or drop a PSD, review the conversion options, then export or import. CMYK is flattened.

03 Import PDF

Drop a PDF, choose a page range and sharpness, then import. Each page arrives as a flattened image.

04 Convert an .ai

Save with PDF compatibility in Illustrator, drop the .ai, choose artboards and sharpness, then import flattened images.

05 Create a GIF

Capture a start and end state, set duration and easing, preview the transition, then export GIF or WebM.

06 Check accessibility

Select the content to check, run the audit, then open a finding to inspect its layer and measured values.

The six tools

  • Line drawing: two hands slide image sheets into an archive box resting on a scale.

    EXPORT ASSETS

    Deliver assets, ready to use.

Batch-export your assets with consistent names and a file size target, ready to share.

    • Less manual renaming
    • A ZIP ready to share
  • Line drawing: one hand lifts a layer sheet toward a design frame held by another hand, with two arrows and a print proof beside it.

    FIGMA ↔ PSD

    Continue the work in Photoshop.

Move work between Figma and Photoshop, keeping supported RGB layers editable.

    • Continue retouching
    • Bring PSDs back to Figma
  • Line drawing: two hands use a ruler and cutter to divide a page into exact tiles above a grid of pages.

    IMPORT PDF

    Bring documents into your canvas.

Import the pages you need as sharp, flattened images, with optional searchable text.

    • Choose the pages you need
    • Keep text searchable
  • Line drawing: two hands lift one artboard from a drawing board while two other artboards stay in place.

    CONVERT AN .AI

    Bring Illustrator work into Figma.

Bring PDF-compatible Illustrator artboards into your Figma file as flattened images.

    • Choose your artboards
    • Keep each artboard separate
  • Line drawing: a hand adjusts an easing curve between a compact card and its expanded state, with a looping arrow below.

    CREATE A GIF

    Show how your design moves.

Preview the transition between two captured states, then export a GIF or WebM.

    • Control the pace
    • Preview before sharing
  • Line drawing: two hands inspect text lines through a magnifying ruler beside a checklist.

    CHECK ACCESSIBILITY

    Spot contrast issues before handoff.

Check text contrast and inspect the colours and typography used across your design.

    • Jump to affected layers
    • Review suggested fixes

Previews

The asset export screen: a list of selected frames, format and scale controls, and a target file size field.

Export assets

Export PNG, WebP, JPG or SVG in batches, with your naming rules and target file size.

The asset export screen: a list of selected frames, format and scale controls, and a target file size field.

Figma ↔ PSD

Hand off editable RGB layers where supported, or import a PSD into Figma. CMYK imports and exports are flattened.

The Figma to PSD screen: the list of frames to convert and the color mode selector.

Import PDF

Bring PDF pages into Figma as sharp, flattened images. Optional searchable text does not rebuild editable layers.

The PDF import screen: the dropped document, its page count, and the option that keeps the text searchable.

Convert an .ai

Bring PDF-compatible Illustrator artboards into Figma as flattened images. Text and vectors are not rebuilt as editable layers.

The .ai import screen: the artboards found in the file, each one about to become its own Figma frame.

Create a GIF

Create an interpolated GIF or WebM from two captured states, with a preview before export.

The animation screen: the two captured states, the easing editor with its Bézier curve, and the duration field.

Check accessibility

Check text contrast against WCAG 2.2 criteria and inspect the colours and typography in use. Layers that cannot be checked include a reason.

The accessibility audit screen: contrast results per text layer, with pass and fail verdicts and the ratio measured for each.

Made for the people who receive your files.

  • Hands working with a stylus and graphics tablet on a retoucher’s desk, beside pale lime notes.

    Retouchers

Editable RGB layers and groups where supported, ready for a retoucher to continue the work.

  • A hand presses pale lime tape onto a printed proof beside a magnifying loupe.

    Printers & prepress

Flattened CMYK using the selected supported ICC profile, with a round-trip error shown in the plugin.

Questions we'd rather answer now.

Does PetalKit send my files anywhere?

Files are processed inside the plugin. The Community build makes no network requests and has no analytics. Beta access is checked online.

What are the PSD limits?

30 000 px per side (Photoshop's own format limit), 500 MB per import, 8-bit per channel. Oversized documents are refused with the reason stated — never half-written.

Is the imported PDF editable?

Each PDF page arrives as a flattened image. Text and vectors are not rebuilt as editable layers. The searchable-text option adds an invisible overlay so Cmd/Ctrl-F can find the text.

How faithful is the CMYK conversion?

In an import benchmark against LittleCMS, average ΔE76 was 0.15–0.51 across 1 033 patches per profile (FOGRA39, SWOP, GRACoL, JapanColor2001 and FOGRA29). An import without a supported profile is marked approximate; CMYK export requires a supported ICC profile.

How do I join the beta?

Create your account, verify your email and choose your company. Once your access request is approved, download the ZIP from your account and use your individual key to activate PetalKit in Figma.
